About Purely Organic
Based in Suffolk, UK, Purely Organic is a family owned and run business, which is quickly becoming one of the UK's leading speciality tea suppliers. They offer a delicious range of organic Ceylon tea, which is ethically produced and harvested high up in the Sri Lankan mountains to give a refreshing flavour to the tea-drinking connoisseur.
The challenge
Purely Organic decided to get its product online, to increase its market share and target wholesale distributors, retailers and individual consumers. The website had to do a lot of work for the business: it had to be as a marketing tool for various audiences - including tea enthusiasts, prepared tea drinkers and the puritanical loose tea drinkers - along with providing a central resource of information relating to the product and its supply. A Recipe For Success was called on to help get the blend just right.
Our solution
We took Purely Organic's newly created brand and established a contemporary feel for the website, appealing to a cross section of users - from ethical shoppers to wholesale buyers. Original photography, commissioned especially for the website, shows life around the plantation, such as the community centre and improvements being made to local housing. The content management system allows Purely Organic to update the site with topical news and promotions, and it's a great information source that offers interesting features, such as the intuitive tea selector, information on tea tasting events, and links to related ethical organisations, such as the Fair Trade Foundation.
The benefits
Launched in May 2005, the Purely Organic website now serves the company as an online sales channel, offering its special range of tea products to consumers the world over. Customers can use the website to find stockists in their local area, or they can order direct from the website or by telephone. Furthermore, the look and feel of the website reiterates the message that in buying Purely Organic tea, consumers aren't just buying great tasting product - they're also helping to improve the lives of the people who produce it.
Sitting at almost 6,000 ft above sea level the Greenfield Estate, Sri Lanka is entirely organic and operated to minimise its impact on the environment. The elevation of the estate and its impeccable organic credentials combine to produce teas that are naturally low in caffeine and tannin and have a unique flavour and aroma. Greenfield also cares greatly for its workers and their families, is run like a village and has its own medical facilities and school. The business is registered with Fairtrade Labelling Organisations, the body that sets standards for ethical trading.
