Eloise Lingerie finds a recipe for success in the 2004 National E-commerce Awards

Date published: 24th October 2004

Recognition for another 'A Recipe for Success' customer
A Recipe For Success are pleased to announce that one of it's customers, Eloise Lingerie, has made it to the finals of the National E-commerce Awards for the second year running.

Supplying lingerie and giving advice to women who have undergone breast surgery, innovative rural business Eloise Lingerie are once again celebrating. The company has achieved a short-listed place in this year's National E-commerce Awards despite facing stiff competition from 2,600 other entries.

Gillian Brown, the founder of Eloise, said: "To get this far is excellent, and although we're running a commercial business, we strongly believe that being short listed in this award will help more women who are looking for advice and beautiful lingerie following their breast surgery, notice what's out there - and know that they're not alone."

Since launching their website, complete with e-KIS shopping facilities, in February 2003, Suffolk-based lingerie business Eloise is attracting even more new customers from both the UK and overseas. It is this ever-increasing customer base and innovative approach that has helped to earn Eloise the coveted place in the 2004 shortlist.

But this is no ordinary success story
Eloise puts it's success to date down to a sensitive feminine touch. But it also sets itself apart from it's competitors as a winning example of how creativity and diversification are helping to revive rural Britain.

Faced with an uncertain future on their family-owned Suffolk cattle farm, former nurse Gillian Brown and husband Keith set up Eloise in 1994. Backed by years of experience as a trained NHS surgical fitter, Gillian felt compelled to help women who had undergone breast surgery, because at that time, there was very little to offer in the way of support and choice of lingerie, swimwear and prostheses.

Gillian said: "Women need specialist help to overcome the practical problems encountered following various types of breast surgery. Eloise has really helped women become more aware of the wide range of products available - including really beautiful lingerie. It's far easier to cope with having had breast surgery if you can openly discuss the practicalities of your situation with someone who understands and can help in a positive way. That's something we continue to do, and we think that's the message our website sends out, too."

Indeed, the company has already won a number of prestigious awards, including the NFU Countryside Small Business of the Year 2002 and Anglian Business Awards 2003. Gillian Brown was also named as a finalist in the East of England Businesswoman of the Year awards and Country Living magazine's Enterprising Rural Women Awards, both in 2001.
