ARFS revamps development agency website

Date published: 23rd February 2003

An Ipswich-based e-business consultancy has revamped the East of England Development Agency (EEDA), website to make it more eye-catching and easier to use.

A Recipe for Success, which is based at the Felaw Maltings waterfront development in Ipswich, went to work on the site to create a new look with greater use of regional images and which makes it simpler to find items.

The three-week project is now being followed up by a second phase to create an interactive centre containing bulletin boards, online job application forms and a mail-out facility allowing EEDA information to be sent out by email.

It will also allow people to register electronically to attend EEDA events.

A Recipe for Success has been going for three years and has scooped over 30 awards, including the FT Business Website of the Year in 1999. It also won a Computer Weekly award in 2000 and a Department of Trade and Industry/Information Society Initiative e-commerce award in 2001.

The company has worked on the websites on a number of firms in the East of England including Oak Tree Management & Training based in Bury St Edmunds and TXU Energi. The company has also worked on the websites of BT's corporate technology incubator, BT Brightstar, based at the company's advanced communications technology centre at Adastral Park in Martlesham, Suffolk.

Jeff Hume, one of the directors of the firm, which employs 15 people, said: "The EEDA website was a classic example of the projects we undertake. The old site was very static so we took the existing content and put it in a content management system, which has made it easier to find what you are looking for.

"EEDA staff will also be able to maintain and modify it themselves without having to be computer experts."

Rachel Bosworth, head of corporate affairs at EEDA, said: "The EEDA website has always been an important point of contact for people wanting to find out more information about our goals for the region and how we have been working to achieve them.

"As more and more people are getting online, it was clear we needed to modernise it and we were delighted to award the contract to a successful and forward-thinking firm which is located in the region we serve."
